In partnership with Dallas College, Frisco Lakes Veterans Group and Airgas our Welding Training program for Veterans is designed to train veterans and equip them to take the American Welding Society (AWS) certification test. Welding is a high demand occupation that pays a livable wage from which a veteran could support themselves and their family.
- 9-10 week class

- Forklift Training and Certification
- OSHA-10 Training and Certification
- Monday thru Friday
- NO COST
- Hands on training focuses on MIG wire welding with exposure to stick welding, aluminum welding, torch cutting, band saw, blue print reading and other techniques.
- Classroom instruction focuses on resume writing, job seeking and interview skills - held every Friday from 8:30am-2:30pm
- OSHA-10 and Forklift training/certification (no welding during this week) Monday-Thursday 8:30am - 2:30pm
- All classes are held at the Veterans Resource Center located at 4900 S. Lancaster Road, Dallas, Texas 75216
Qualifications:
- Seeking Employment
- Must be able to provide a Dallas County address
- Veteran - DD214 Honorable, Under Honorable, General
- Requires 2 forms of original photo I.D. and proof of military service (veterans & spouses).
- Military - AGR or Reserve (must provide Military ID card)
- Spouse (must have Military Dependent ID card)
Prerequisites:
- Attend a meet and greet/information session at the VRC (given the month prior to class start dates on Wednesdays at 9:00 am).
- One-day orientation, assessment and enrollment at Dallas College held 1 to 2 weeks prior to class starting - dates are set up by Dallas College Work Ready U (WRU) staff.
New class begins every 10 weeks
